Category: Peppercorns

Timut Peppercorns are a relative of Szechuan Peppercorns. However, neither are technically peppercorns! Like Szechuan, Timut are lumped into the peppercorn category because they deliver heat when ground. Timut peppercorns are quite fascinating. The aroma is citrusy, much like grapefruit. They also deliver the same mild numbing sensation and tongue tingling like their Szechuan Peppercorn cousins. Timut Peppercorns are sometimes referred to as Timur Peppercorns.

Leo ★★★★★

Ground them fresh and the citrusy pop is unreal—way brighter than any Szechuan I've tried. Even though they're not true peppercorns, the heat builds slowly and lingers just enough. Already on my second bag.

Thomas ★★★★★

I've always reached for regular black pepper, but these Timut berries have a completely different kind of warmth, almost floral, that wakes up a simple stir-fry without being overpowering. They grind up really fine and the heat lingers in a way that's surprisingly pleasant.

These little berries pack a punch that's totally different from black pepper—that citrusy tingle builds slowly instead of hitting you right away. I've been grinding them over roasted vegetables and even a fruit salad, and the way they wake up a dish without overwhelming it is something else. Definit
