Category: Peppercorns

Cubeb Berries, like Timut Peppercorns and Szechuan Peppercorns, get lumped into the peppercorn category because of the heat they deliver when ground. However, none are technically peppercorns! Cubeb Berries are the unripe fruits of a plant in the pepper family. They deliver a pleasantly bitter, pungent taste. It's a little like allspice and black pepper were combined.

Cubeb is also known as Piper and Tailed Pepper. Super fun! Load them up in one of our Peppermills. Makes a great gift!

I’ve been using these ground over roasted lamb and the heat builds slowly, more like a warm buzz than a sharp bite. The berries have a woody, almost piney aroma that makes them stand out from regular pepper. Definitely going to keep a jar in the rotation.

Olivia ★★★★★

First time trying cubeb berries and the citrusy warmth really surprised me. They grind up nicely with a gentle pop, adding a unique, floral heat to my stir-fry that black pepper just can't match. Totally worth the experiment for anyone bored with standard peppercorns.

Ella ★★★★★

I've been using these in my pepper grinder alongside black peppercorns for a spicier kick, and the citrusy heat is really unique. They grind up nicely without being too dusty, which I appreciate for finishing dishes.
