Szechuan Peppercorns unlike like anything you have ever tasted before! They are milder than regular peppercorns, but have a different kind of spicy flavor that leaves your mouth tingling. An integral part of any Chinese dish, Szechuan Peppercorns only became once again legal for import 10 years ago.

Traditionally, Szechuan Peppercorns are meant to be toasted before being ground to enhance their woody flavors and heighten their pairing with meat. After toasting, try grinding and adding these peppercorns to our Chinese Five Spice Blend for a surprising spiciness in rubs for chicken and pork.

You can also find Szechuan Peppercorns in our 7-Blend Whole Peppercorn mix!

Alexander ★★★★★

That buzzing numbness they cause is genuinely addictive—way more interesting than standard black pepper. I’ve been sprinkling them over stir-fries and even plain eggs, and the mouth-tingle lasts for a good few minutes.

The first time I used these, that tingly numbness hit exactly as promised—milder than black pepper but with a buzzing warmth that made my mapo tofu feel electric. A little goes a long way, and they kept their kick for weeks in my spice drawer.

James ★★★★★

I love how these peppercorns add that unique floral note to my stir-fries, and the way they make my mouth tingle is just addictive. They’re much milder than black pepper, so I can use a generous pinch without overpowering the dish.
