Definitely not for the faint of heart! Dried Ghost chiles, also known as Bhut Jolokia, are one of the hottest chili pepper varieties in the world. They originate from the northeastern region of India and were once recognized as the hottest pepper in the world. This pepper clocks in at 1,000,000 on the Scoville Heat Scale. It boasts more than 300 times the heat of a jalapeno. Think Cayenne is hot? Think again, the Ghost Pepper tops the Cayenne's heat by more than 50 times.

Soak these dried chiles in warm water then blend into a chili puree that's quite delicious. Use this puree in enchilada sauce or taco seasonings. However, you use it...use with care!

Dried Ghost chiles have a wrinkled, bumpy skin and range in color. For these dried chiles, Ghost peppers are harvested at their ripe red stage of maturity when their heat levels are at their peak.

Finally found whole dried Bhut Jolokias that are actually intact, not just crushed bits. Used one in my chili and the heat builds slowly but really lingers, exactly what I wanted.

Alexander Z. ★★★★★

I was honestly scared to try them, but one tiny pinch in my curry brought exactly the fierce, slow-building burn I'd hoped for. The peppers arrived intact and bone-dry, and that Bhut Jolokia reputation is no joke.

William P. ★★★★★

I've been using these in my curries for a kick of heat, and just one small piece transforms the whole dish. The peppers are dried perfectly, staying brittle but not crumbling into dust.
