Category: Chiles and Peppers

De arbol chiles, also known as "tree chilies," are slender and fiery red peppers originating from Mexico. Closely related to the pequin chile, Chile de Arbol hits 15,000 to 30,000 Scoville Heat Units, they pack a punch. Their earthy, smoky flavor with hints of nuttiness makes them a popular choice for adding heat to salsas, sauces, and marinades, as well as for infusing oils and vinegars for a spicy kick.

This customer favorite is the perfect addition to spice rubs, chili seasonings and even salad dressings. Try it in our Spicy Citrus Vinaigrette.

Emma ★★★★★

The flavor is intense but not punishing—I used it in a chili and the 15-30k Scoville range gave it a real kick without overpowering the other spices. It's finely ground and even, so it dissolves nicely into sauces.

That smoky heat level — right in that 15,000 to 30,000 Scoville range — builds slow then lingers on the tongue, exactly what I wanted for finishing tacos. The grind is fine enough to dissolve into oil without clumping, so a pinch goes a long way.

Eli ★★★★★

I keep a jar of this ground arbol next to my stove for quick heat—those 15,000 to 30,000 Scoville units are no joke, but the powder is so fine it blends into sauces without any gritty texture. A little spoonful perks up eggs or beans instantly.
